This photograph was taken from the Command and Service Modules by Astronaut Michael Collins that was lunar orbit.
It shows the Lunar Module Ascent Stage with Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. aboard on 21 July 1969.
After their successful Moon exploration, this image shows the Lunar Module making it's way back to the CSM module. The mare area in the background is Smyth's Sea. At right center is International Astronomical Union crater no. 189.
